ㅤㅤㅤSerena began her journey at the age of 17, after moving into Vanville Town, Kalos, from her home at Saffron City, Kanto. She was an aspiring upstart with a head full of dreams, but the experience of travelling across Kalos and beating back the menace of Team Flare—an endeavour where she almost lost her life to their maniacal boss and his Mega Gyarados—Serena grew thoughtful about her place in this world. After capturing Xerneas and preventing the full discharge of the Ultimate Weapon, her life had been changed forever. Despite beating Diantha at the champion's stage, Serena found she didn't have the burning resolve in her to stand and defend the title, instead forfeiting it to her predecessor so she could find out what it is she wants to do in life.

ㅤㅤㅤThe question of her goal haunts her even now, two years after the Team Flare incident, where she had felt the weight of her own mortality and been chosen by Kalos' Guardian of Life as a trainer. Her bond with Xerneas is strong, but she knows that she ultimately amounts to a speck in the Legendary Pokémon's lifespan, and it makes her question the meaning of being chosen. These swirling questions form a cloud of ever-present doubt, leading her to stifle herself as a part-time (read: employed purely because of her skill) stylist in Lumiose, taking other odd jobs that come her way as bonus income. Due to having to keep Xerneas a secret for reasons of security both regional and personal, she is reluctant to form genuine connections, and finds herself left in the dust by her friends, who all ended up following their dreams. Yet, here she is, among the strongest battlers in Kalos, but with nothing to show for it.

ㅤㅤㅤShe clings to one singular thing now: the resolve to prove Lysandre's worldview incorrect. In pursuit of that, she drifts without aim, helping anyone she comes across who is in need. After experiencing the harrowing apathy of the Kalosian people in the face of her saving them from certain doom, she doubted her choice to oppose Lysandre, and giving into that doubt is a fear that drives her as far as being exploited willingly and otherwise just so she can make the world a warmer, kinder place. At the end of the day, she loves life too much to condone Lysandre's actions.

Trivia / Headcanons

➤ Her favourite colour is a deep, glossy black.

➤ Her favourite food is spaghetti carbonara, with her favourite dessert being peppermint parfait with chocolate mixed in. She's also a sucker for baked food in general.

➤ ⋆Due to exposure to Xerneas' Fairy Aura at high concentrations, her eye colour hasn't remained the same since the battle with Lysandre. It can shift across the colour spectrum depending on her mood, and while she wears contacts to try and cover this up, they only mitigate the effects to a point. It's an irreversible change in her which she's highly self-conscious of.

➤ Serena is bisexual, with a heavy male lean. If a woman clicks well enough, though, it may just work out.

➤ Though her body isn't trained into a forged weapon, she has an unnatural level of physical strength. She's capable of lifting entire grown people with relative ease, though her punches leave something to be desired.

➤ The inspiration for the character's general direction is hidden in the account's handle (@). The World Tree, or Yggdrasil, in Norse Mythology holds all the realms within its trees and leaves. Over the course of eternity, four deers representing the four seasons eat at the World Tree's leaves, gradually whittling it down. This has been interpreted as the passage of time leading to the inevitability of ragnarok.
ㅤIn the context of Serena's character, out of a mixture of hubris and denial, she took on the role of making the entire world a kinder place. This is a parallel to taking the place of The World Tree's Leaves, and being slowly eaten by the flow of time. Her unhealthy lifestyle leads to an inevitably painful and lonely death, one she ironically needs to be saved from.
ㅤAdditional trivia is Xerneas being based on the four deers who ate the leaves.

➤ Though usually docile and endlessly kind, Serena's face takes on an extremely mean and bestial countenance when she's pushed in battle. Her repressed champion's spirit can be drawn out to make for a fierce opponent. However, she has let her skills rust over the course of her two years after forfeiting championship, so she isn't quite in peak shape even when pushed to this point.

➤ With her self-destructive outlook and attitude, Serena does not at all live a healthy life. She stays fit through exercise, watches her diet, and has a toned figure, but in terms of energy levels, she gets around 1 hour of sleep a week. Most of the time, she's putting on a front and hanging on to consciousness by a thread, but keeps pushing forward towards a kinder world.

➤ Serena's relationship with her mother is rough and rocky. There is definitely love for her mother, but they had a massive fight on the evening Serena gave up her championship title, as Grace actively worried over her daughter's future. After blowing up at her mother and storming out of the house, Serena has been wracked with guilt over what she did to someone who genuinely worried for her. She has a crippling fear of trying to reconnect with her mother as a result, fearing the worst outcome of the attempt.

ㅤㅤㅤHi there! Name's Linn; I'm 18 years old (turning 19 in July, 2022); and this is my crack at writing for the protagonist of Pokémon X. It's based on my own headcanons + my personal playthrough.

ㅤㅤㅤTo start with, this account is a no drama zone. Whatever beef you have that isn't with me? I don't care and don't wish to get involved. Try to police who I interact with, and you're getting blocked. I'm here to write, not to experience high school all over again.

ㅤㅤㅤOn the matter of writing, my preferred genres are action (battles), romance, and hurt/comfort (angst), and as a rule of thumb, I prefer having at least a basic plan over winging interactions completely. I also strictly don't write smut, but NSFW (such as dark themes, gore, brutality, etc.) is fair game. I also don't mind any romance writing (physical action) that doesn't go into straight up bedroom time.

ㅤㅤㅤAnd on the matter of high school? I'm a college student. Please bear with any inactivity I may exhibit; it will be random, and while I will try to warn my writing partners about it, I cannot promise to always find the time.
